Why is "Raglan" called "Raglan"?
Raglan, New Zealand is named after the British naval commander, Lord Raglan. The town was named in 1858 in honour of the First Lord of the Admiralty, who was responsible for the British victory at the Battle of Waterloo. The town of Raglan is located on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand, and is a popular holiday destination due to its stunning beaches and surf breaks. The town is also home to the world-famous Raglan Surf School, which has been teaching surfing since the 1960s.
