The Municipal Structure of Paeroa

Why is "Paeroa" called "Paeroa"?

Paeroa, New Zealand was named after a Maori chief, Paeroa. The name was given to the area in 1875, when Chief Paeroa gifted the land to the Crown. The name Paeroa, which means 'long stretch of flat land', is derived from the Maori language. The city is located in the Waikato region of New Zealand, and is known for its natural beauty, as well as its rich cultural heritage. Paeroa is also home to the iconic Paeroa L&P bottle, a popular soft drink made from the natural mineral waters of the region.
